So we had four participants (including myself) the last time around and had a couple of good exchanges but I’d have to say this didn’t really take off. Shall we try again or let it go? If we try again, any suggestions on what to do differently?

Shall we try again?

In my book club we end up with the best discussions for books that are most polarizing (perhaps this is obvious). If everyone loves it (or hates it) we sit around and have little to say. But when someone hates it and someone else likes it, we really get going. Not sure if this group is diverse enough for that kind of discrepancy in reactions, but just a thought.

Well, you could add me to your fancy list on the side there, dear.
(sniffle)
Maybe we could formulate general questions beforehand about a book. For instance, say we will begin discussing the book on February 15th. Comment first with general opinions and who your favorite character was and why.
Sometimes good discussions follow something kind of vague and then it builds. I have another friend who read it, too, but doesn’t have a blog, so she felt like she couldn’t participate. Silly girl – so she will next time around.
I thought your original questions were good, though. Maybe it just left no where to go because we are all such intelligent women and we said everything already.

I didn’t participate was because I don’t have the book and couldn’t find it here in Lisbon, so I reckoned I’d simply bid my time till you chose one I had/could buy. We don’t really have book clubs and I find the idea very exciting, I hope this won’t be the untimely end of it.
